before entering the vehicle
check behind the car for small objects, children, children, pedestrians, toys, bicycles, pets, and other hazards
find parking spaces that don't require backing
if possible find a parking space that doesn't require for you to back out of when you want to leave. look for parallel parking spaces.
tips
if you must take a sharp turn while backing up use your left hand as the main steering hand to turn the steering wheel. then just as you would when driving forward, use your hand over hand movements all the while your body is positioned sideways and your head is turned towards the right rear.
speed control
keep your foot on the brake pedal, when you see that its clear to back up release your brake pedal slightly, while still keeping some tension on the brake, this is so you move very slowly with control of the vehicle. continue this motion until absolutely sure that you're safe to continue the backing of the vehicle. once you are in the roadway start moving a little quicker, so you get out of the way of any oncoming traffic.
to pull out of a parking space step 1
make sure your wheels are straight. back up to the vehicle behind you. turn your wheels away from the curb.
tip
once you have completed making the sharp turn, straighten your steering wheel to the angle of the roadway OR intended area that you're backing to. always proceed at very slow speeds

tips: -consider installung a backup sensor and alarm-adjust rear and aide view mirrors to minimize blind spots
when movement is constricted
use mirros and passengers to help navigate. when your movement is constricted always use mirrors and your passengers help to see any hazards
once in vehicle
watch behind your vehicle as you are backing up. look in your rear view mirror, your side view mirrors, and then while you're backing up turn over your shoulder so you are positioned to see directly behind your vehicle.
sharp turns
when backing up around a sharp corner place your left hand on the top of the steering wheel and look out the nacm window. in addition, glance at your side view mirrors to make sure you're close to the curb.
whenever possible avoid backing
you canmt usually help but back up out of driveways and parking spaces. however there are areas that you can eliminate backing up such as when you pass a street you wanted to turn onto, instead of backing up go around the block or turn around in a safe location
head position while steering
you should have your head turned towards the right rear of your vehicle. therefore you can see any objects to the right side and behind your vehicle.
body position while steering
your body should be positioned to the right, with your arm over the passenger seat. when you're ready to back up you will be prepared to see and have a clear view behind your vehicld. finally, with your foot on the brake, or brake and clutch, slowly proceed backwards.
backing speed
your speed while backing up should be at a snails pacd. there could be children, pedestrians, vehicles, etc. be prepared to stop in less than a second. once you are on the roadway and you see your path for backing up is completely clead, you can move quicker so you don't get hit by any oncomig traffic.
