Earthquakes

an earthquake is the vibration of earth produced by the rapid realse of energy.

Foreshock

Small earthquakes called forshock often come before a major earthquake. These foreshocks can happen days or even before a major quake.

Aftershocks

The movements that follow a major earthquake aften produce smaller earthquakes called aftershocks.

Faults

Earthquakes are usually associated with large fractueres in earth's crust and mantle called faults.

This explanation for the release of energy stored in deformed rocks is called the elastic rebound hypothesis.

Epicenter

the epicenter is the location on the surface directly above the foces.

Foces

the point within earth where the earthquake starts is called foces.
