Short Answer Question- According to The Gilded Age by Mark Twain and Charles Dudley Warner, the Era's slogan was "Get rich, dishonestly if we can, honestly if we must." Explain how this was true of the politics of the era.

It was easier to get rich dishonestly. This saying means that if the public saw what they were up to then they would have to act honestly. However, once the public turned their back they would earn money the easiest and cheapest way possible. We see that by the factories having their workers work 12-hour shifts constantly, and eventually it became an issue for the public. When the public starts to riot and host rallies that is when the company finally tries to be more credible and clean until the next issue shows itself. It is a cycle that even happens nowadays. The government finally got involved once the Nation Labor Union forced them to. It is really a sad way of scamming the public.
