How did Jefferson avoid being involved in the war between France and Great Britain?
1. President Adams appointed Marbury "justice of the peace" right before President Adams left the presidency. 2. Secretary of State James Madison was supposed to deliver documents granting Marbury's new position, but Jefferson told them to hold them hoping Marbury would quit. 3. Marbury asked Supreme Court to get involved. 4. In Marbury vs Madison, Supreme Court ruled against Marbury. 5. This case established that Supreme Court could declare laws unconstitutional and invalid.
How did Marbury vs Madison affect the power of Supreme Court?
