Passive: A movie is going to be watched by us tonight
Active The staff is required to watch a safety video every year.
Passive: A safety video will be watched by the staff every year.
Active: The critic wrote a scathing review.
Passive: A scathing review was written by the critic.
Active: Harry ate six shrimp at dinner.
Passive: At dinner, six shrimp were eaten by Harry.
Active: The crew paved the entire stretch of highway.
Passive: The entire stretch of high way paved by the crew.
Active: Sue changed the flat tire.
Passive: The flat tire was changed by Sue.
Active: I will clean the house every Saturday.
Passive: The house will be cleaned by me every Saturday.
Active: Mom read the novel in one day.
Passive: The novel was read in one day by Mom.

Active: Beautiful giraffes roam the savannah.
Passive: The savannah is roamed by beautiful giraffes.

Basic Form: I was followed. Progressive Form: I was being followed.

Basic Form: I will be followed.

The Forms of Active and Passive Verbs
A passive verb is made from a form of be plus particle of a transitive verb.
Active vs. Passive voice
Alice left a message. vs. A message was left by Alice
Tense: Present
Basic Form: I am followed Progressive Form: I am being followed.
Differences Between Active and Passive Voice
Voice is the form of a verb that shows whether or not the subject is performing the action. A verb is active if its subject preforms the action. A verb is passive if its action is preformed upon the subject.
