Cause of the Embargo Act, the British were forcing sailors to join their navy, US wanted to stop them, so they stopped trading

John C. Calhoun
Headed the campaign for nullification, wanted to keep slavery alive, although it didn't receive Jackson's support
Tariff of 1828
It was a tariff designed to protect and bolster American Industry, mainly there to protect northern industries from going out of business due to the low priced goods on the market
Protective Tariff
It was primarily put in place to protect American Industry and generate money for the federal government, tax on imported goods

Jefferson called this a treaty, instead of saying what it really was a purchase of foreign land from France that doubled the size of the country
