Blood feud is when quarrels in which the families of the original fighters seek revenge. Courts to be established with judges to hear the cases
How could you compare Germanic law to Roman law?
Not always fair, person's wealth and importance often determined severity penalty, not fair but peace, they knew the laws by people telling people, and the roman law had all the laws written down, formal laws and were fair
Describe the ordeals of the Germanic tribes.
Ordeal by water (Hands tied to feet and thrown in water) and ordeal by fire (Walk across hot coals or put arm in boiling water) Water- Sank:Innocent, Float: guilty Fire- If the burns healed within 3 days you were innocent

"Fine" amount determined by crime committed
