Blowflies-screworms, maggots, and wool maggots. shearing before the warm weather, keeping them clean. Sprays are avaliable. Lice- some are bool sucking, others bite or chew. They irritate the animal's body and casue damage to wool. Dipping , spraying, or dusting control it. Dusing is better in the colder weather. Mange and Scab Mites- casuing a condtion reffered to as mange, scabies, or scab. They burrow into the skin, casuing irritation, and some casue scabs to form. If any cases appear they must be reported to a trained veternarian. The flock i quaritined, and control measures are carried out by a trained personel. Sheep Bot Fly- found in the nasal cavities of sheep and goats. About 1/2 inch long and looks like a honey bee. The animal will shake their heads, sneeze, and have difficulty breathing, and may hold their noses to the ground. Sheep ked- A wingless fly about 1/4 inch long and has 6 legs, it is a bloodsucker. Controlled by dipping, spraying, or dusting. Ticks- Most serious is the spinose ear tick. The animals loose weight and become listless. Young animals may die from a heavy infestation.
