Lesson 4~ What is the relationship between temperature and density?
Atoms in liquids:
Spacing out, and moving faster. They still will keep the shape of their container.
Convection Current
A current caused from different temperature water pushing the opposite temperature water, warming, and cooling.
Atoms in solids:
Close, and vibrating in a fixed position.
Cold water:
Sinks to the bottom, more dense. Molecules are packed tighter together, making it more dense.
Atoms in gases:
Moving very fast, spaced greatly apart. Do not keep shape.
Warm water:
Rises to the top, because it is less dense. Molecules are moving faster and further spaced apart.
