Cryptography

Qualitative analysis

is a review of medical record entries for inconsistencies and omissions which may signify that the medical record is inaccurate or incomplete.

Quantitative Analysis

is a review of prescribed areas of the medical record for identifying specific deficiencies in recording to ensure that it is complete, accurate, and current.

National Practitioner Data Bank (NPDB)

A data bank established by the federal government through the 1986 Health Care Quality Improvement Act that contains information on professional review actions taken against physicians and other licensed healthcare practitioners, which healthcare organizations are required to check as part of the credentialing process.

Data warehouse

A database that makes it possible to access data from multiple databases and combine the results into a single query and reporting interface.

Data Dictionary

A descriptive list of the data elements to be collected in a information system or database whose purpose is to ensure consistency of terminology

System development life cycle (SDLC)

A model used to represent the ongoing process of development (or purchasing) information systems.

Data Mart

A well-organized, user-centered, searchable database system that usually draws information from a data warehouse to meet the specific needs of users.
